Panhandle Plains History Museum

Visiting Palo Duro Canyon, we stayed in Canyon, Texas.  It was close to both the canyon and Amarillo.  What we didn't know before we visited a branch of Texas A and M was there and on that campus was a great museum, Panhandle Plains History Museum.

This museum was so good, I have a lot pictures.  I am going to so about 20 and I leave the rest for your next trip to Canyon, TX.  I have divided the pictures up in categories, the first Indians.

My friend recommended, that I read Ride the Wind.  It was one of the reasons we came to Palo Dura Canyon, as the book was set in this area.  Cynthia Parker, was a white women captured by the Comanche Indians.  She married an Indian Chief and their son Chief Quarah Parker was a very famous chief who visited Washington D.C. several times.
