Garvis join the Gilmores

Jackie and Chico Garvis, our friends from our winter home in Bentzen Grove, TX, came to travel with us for a few weeks.

They pulled in across from us at Skidaway Island Campground.  We were ready for visitors.

We waited for their arrival to tour the city of Savannah.  We started with a trolley ride . This statue was in front of the Cotton Exchange.
Just behind this building is the port.  Cotton was brought here to be loaded on ships.

The Port of Savannah is the fastest growing port in the nation. It is the 4th largest container port in the US.

We bought our trolley tickets and headed to the Welcome Center, which was located in an old train depot. This mural was in the lobby.

We headed from the visitor center to downtown to have a dinner of pizza at the City Market.  We walked through the shops and art gallaries.

On the way home we decided to take a detour to Typbee Island.  Jackie and I enjoyed a swing and the view.

It was a great ending to our first day.
