Home of Franklin Delano Roosevelt

We took a tour of FDR's home. Springwood.
This was FDR's childhood home. He and Eleanor lived here when they were married, but it was always Sara's home and she ran it.

Springwood.  When Franklin's father died, Springwood went to his mother Sara Delano Roosevelt.

Dining Room

Entryway

Parlor, where Franklin shared cocktails and conversations with many famous people.

Franklin's collection of political cartoons.

Franklin had polio and to get upstairs he would roll his wheel chair to a dumb waiter and pull himself up to the second floor.

This was Franklin's boyhood bedroom.

Guest room, known as the Pink Room, where Winston Churchill stayed when he visited.

Bathroom

This was Franklin's bedroom overlooking the Hudson River.

This was Sara's room and dressing room.

This was Eleanor's room.  Do you understand why she never felt at home here.

This was the view from the back of the house.  This house is just a few miles away from the Vanderbilt Mansion and also on the Hudson River.

This is the stable.

Inside the stables.

Entering the garden.

Beautiful flowers.

The graves of Franklin and Eleanor.
